Katie Kmiecik, MA, LCPC

Faculty

Katie Kmiecik, LCPC, PMH-C is a co-founder of Postpartum Wellness Center (PWC), a private practice boutique in the Chicago suburbs specializing in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), where she works with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Katie has a professional, yet approachable and humorous personality and presentation style, and speaks to audiences about her own experience treating and personally surviving PMADs. She has presented to thousands of teens, parents, educators, and professionals, and has also written, copy-written, edited, and managed psycho-educational and continuing education programs. Due to her expertise, Katie has been interviewed by several local television stations and NBC News.

Katie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Roosevelt University. She is a member of Postpartum Support International (PSI), completed PSI’s two-day certificate training, and volunteers for PSI as Co-Coordinator for Illinois. Katie has also completed The Postpartum Stress Center’s (TPSC) ten-hour training in perinatal assessment and treatment and TPSC’s Master Training. Katie is a Level 2 Gottman Couples Therapist, completing her certificate in The Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home program that prepares couples to handle the transition to parenthood.

Prior to opening PWC, Katie worked with perinatal women, couples, families, and groups for over a decade at Preservation of Human Dignity (PHD), a counseling center for maternal mental health and wellbeing. Katie was PHDs Clinical Director and leader of the Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder Prevention and Treatment Program. At Northwest Community Hospital (NCH), Katie assessed and treated women with babies in the NICU, which presents high risk for PMADs. She also facilitated support groups at PHD and in the NCH NICU.
