Postpartum Planning for Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing

1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month: 7PM (ET)/4PM (PT)
2nd Thursday of the month: 12PM (ET)/9AM (PT)
1st Friday of the month: 1PM (ET)/10AM (PT)

*No clinical or professional observations. This class is only for expectant parents.*

Is your family growing? Would you like some dedicated time to learn and think about your mental health during the postpartum period? Join us for this 2-hour class for expectant parents in any stage of pregnancy, whether it’s 1st, 2nd, or 3rd trimester. All expectant parents are welcome: moms, birthing people, non-gestational parents, partners, couples, and single parents. If you are expecting a baby soon, we welcome you to join us.

We will focus on the parents’ mental health and emotional well-being during the postpartum period. The class will include education, interactive discussion, reviewing our postpartum plan, filling out sections of the plan, and resource building. This class is not focused on how to care for baby. This class is about your emotional and mental wellbeing as it pertains to: managing expectations, self-nourishment, creating a support network, and understanding the many different perinatal mood challenges that can occur. This class is a one-time session, so please only register once. Thank you! We are so glad you are planning for your postpartum period. You are not alone, and we are here to help.

Please scroll down to view our Postpartum Planning Document PDF. Even if you cannot attend our class, we encourage you to use the plan. If you are attending the class, please have your plan ready to fill out, as we will spend some time filling in a few portions during our class and answering your questions when you are unsure of what to include.

Class Instructors

Nichole Enerson

Nichole Enerson (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with an MA in Counseling and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C). Nichole has more than ten years of experience providing group support and community education in the healthcare setting. Her work began after her own experience of Postpartum Anxiety and OCD. Nichole lives in Southeast Michigan with her husband, two children, and their adorable pets, Alley and Grizzly. In her free time, Nichole enjoys traveling, playing cards, and visiting theme parks!

Stacey Figg
Stacey Figg

Stacey (she/her) lives in West Michigan with her family and is the proud mother of two wonderful kids. Her passion for perinatal mental health stems from her own experience with severe postpartum anxiety and insomnia. Once recovered, she became a community advocate raising awareness around PMADs while helping to develop the Pine Rest Mother and Baby Partial Day Program. She has been a DONA certified Postpartum Doula since 2017, as well as a PSI Helpline Volunteer. Stacey joined the PSI staff on the Coordinator Team as the Support Coordinators Network Specialist in 2022.

Vida Ibrahim
Vida Ibrahim

Vida is a former United States Marine, a Registered Nurse working in Fertility and Plastics, and mom to a rainbow baby girl. She first came to PSI as a help seeker during COVID, following the birth of her daughter. Prior to having her daughter, Vida struggled with primary infertility and pregnancy loss. Postpartum, she experienced PTSD, OCD, and anxiety (with the anxiety came bouts of anger/rage). She attended groups regularly for over a year and found a community of support that helped her regain control over her mental health.

Vida transitioned to a support group facilitator and thrived in creating a safe space where others could share their struggles and receive the same support she did. As she grew in facilitating groups, she became a Postpartum Planning Instructor and is honored to be a part of an incredible team offering educational material to the perinatal community. She is passionate about perinatal mental health and is in training to get her PMH-C. Vida lives in San Diego with her daughter, Roya, husband, Mahdi, and their puggle, Biggie Smalls. She and her family love to spend time at the San Diego Zoo and the many beautiful beaches. In her free time, she loves trying new recipes, going to the gym, and watching reality TV.

Kristina Guerrero Ledlow
Krisina Ludlow

Kristina (she/her/ella) is a certified Childbirth Educator and Birth Doula in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She also holds a certification in Perinatal Mental Health and works as a Perinatal Emotional Support Coordinator.  She is mom to two children and a golden retriever.  She loves the work she does with PSI, as she herself is a survivor of perinatal anxiety, depression, and OCD.  In addition to this class, Kristina is the co-chair of the PSI Michigan chapter and a PSI support group facilitator.

Chris Rose
Chris Rose

Chris Rose (he/him) has been serving help seekers since 2021. He has previously worked as a facilitator for our Dads Peer Support Group, and now instructs this Postpartum Planning Class, as well as various IT tasks for the organization. As a dad, he wants to help other dads realize that they are not alone in facing postpartum depression, and that it’s ok to open up and talk about their mental health.
Dads are told that they shouldn’t voice their issues and that they need to be the rock of the family, but that’s old thinking. Parenting is already hard, and staying quiet just makes the job harder. Chris brings from his own experience of postpartum depression a dad’s perspective to this class.
