Crystal Clark, MD, MsC
Dr. Crystal T. Clark is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences and she has a secondary appointment in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She is board-certified in adult psychiatry. Dr. Clark’s expertise includes the treatment of mental health in women broadly across the life span and, specifically, as it relates to the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders affected by hormonal changes during periods such as pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.
Dr. Clark is a researcher who aims to optimize dosing guidelines for pregnant women with Bipolar Disorder, an illness in which medication is the mainstay of treatment. She has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health and the PhRMA foundation to support her work. As someone committed to educating the next generation of psychiatrists, she serves as a Director of advanced training in women’s and perinatal mental health and the Associate Program Director for residency training. She is the president of the board of Marcé of North America, a North American organization which is devoted to improving research, treatment, and access for perinatal women with mental illness and their families. Dr. Clark received her Bachelor of Art’s in Psychology from Northwestern University and her Master’s of Science and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville. She completed her psychiatry training at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Clark has served as an expert on mental health topics such as suicide, medication, substance use, and new drug therapies for several media outlets including National Public Radio (NPR), New York Times, ABC 7, and Chicago Tonight.
