
Alison Goulding, MD, MSCR
Dr. Alison Goulding is a high-risk obstetrician and physician-scientist working to improve perinatal mental health through the implementation of evidence-based interventions. She is thrilled and honored to be joining the PSI Board.
Dr. Goulding completed medical school at the University of Michigan and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of North Carolina. After completing Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), she was thrilled to stay at BCM as an Assistant Professor.
Her research is funded by the Women’s Reproductive Health Research program, a K12 career development program through the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. She is also an Investigator at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety (IQuESt), a large health services research center funded through the Veterans Affairs system.
Dr. Goulding’s ongoing research uses mixed methods to assess mental health needs in hospitalized antepartum patients, with future plans to adapt established mental health interventions for different perinatal populations. Clinically, she cares for high-risk obstetric patients within the Harris County public healthcare system in Houston.
Dr. Goulding serves on multiple national committees working to improve maternal health, including the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s Patient Safety and Quality Committee and the National Curriculum for Reproductive Psychiatry’s Obstetrics Committee.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, running, and trying to keep up with her two young kids. She lives in Houston, TX with her family.
